Delivery Scam Guide

Evri Text Scams

Evri (formerly Hermes) is one of the most-impersonated couriers in the UK. Scam texts about 'failed delivery' or small redelivery fees are sent in the millions every week — here's how to recognise them.

What is this scam?

An Evri text scam usually claims a parcel couldn't be delivered and asks you to reschedule or pay a small 'redelivery' fee — often £1.45 or £1.99. The link leads to a convincing fake Evri page that captures your address, date of birth, and card details. Stolen card details are usually tested with small charges, then used for a much larger purchase or sold on. Personal information is often used days later in a follow-up 'bank fraud team' phone scam.

Common warning signs

  • Text about a 'missed delivery' for a parcel you didn't order
  • Small 'redelivery' or 'address correction' fee request
  • Link doesn't go to evri.com (e.g. evri-redelivery.co, evri-parcel-fee.com)
  • Generic greeting — Evri never addresses you as 'Customer'
  • Sender is a regular mobile number, not an Evri shortcode
  • Urgency: 'Reschedule within 24 hours or parcel returns to depot'
  • Asks for full address, date of birth or card details

How to stay safe

  • Never click links in unexpected delivery texts. Track parcels directly at evri.com using the reference from the sender.
  • Forward suspicious texts to 7726 (free in the UK). It goes to your network's scam reporting team.
  • If you entered card details, freeze the card immediately in your banking app and request a new one.
  • Be wary of any 'bank fraud team' calls in the days that follow — scammers often use stolen details for a follow-up call.
  • Report identity theft concerns to Action Fraud (0300 123 2040).

Frequently asked questions

Does Evri charge for redelivery?

No. Evri never charges customers a fee to redeliver a parcel. Any text asking for money to release a parcel is a scam.

How do I know if an Evri text is real?

Real Evri texts only contain links to evri.com or hermesworld.com and never ask for payment, full address or date of birth. If in doubt, open the Evri app or website directly.

What happens if I clicked an Evri scam link?

If you only clicked, you're likely fine — clear your browser data. If you entered card or personal details, freeze your card immediately and watch for follow-up 'bank' calls in the next few days.

How do I report an Evri scam text?

Forward it to 7726, then delete it. You can also report it via Evri's 'Report a scam' page on evri.com.
