Reselling Safety
Vinted Scams
Vinted's buyer-protection model is solid — but scammers work around it by moving conversations off-platform, sending fake Vinted-branded links, and impersonating support. Here's what to watch for.
What is this scam?
Most Vinted scams begin with a buyer asking you to chat or pay outside the app. Once off-platform, scammers send convincing fake Vinted pages that capture your login or card details, or trick you into 'releasing' an item before payment is real. Sellers are the main target, but buyers also face fake listings and account-takeover attempts. The patterns are easy to recognise once you've seen them.
Common warning signs
- Buyer asks for your email, phone, or to chat on WhatsApp
- Link to a 'Vinted payment confirmation' on a non-vinted.com domain
- Message claims your account will be deactivated unless you 'verify'
- Buyer says they've paid extra and needs you to refund the difference
- Pressure to ship before the order shows in your Vinted app
- Receives a 'shipping label' email with a tracking link to a strange URL
- New buyer with no reviews offers full asking price instantly

How to stay safe
- Never leave the Vinted app to complete a sale. Buyer protection only applies in-app.
- Only ship after the order appears in your sales tab — not because of an email or screenshot.
- Vinted will never ask you to log in via a link in a message. Open the app directly.
- Use Vinted's prepaid shipping labels — never a label sent by a buyer.
- Enable two-factor authentication on your Vinted account.
- If a message looks even slightly off, paste it into ScamSentinel before replying.

Frequently asked questions
Is Vinted safe to sell on?
Yes, when you stay in the app and use Vinted's own shipping labels. Almost every Vinted scam relies on moving the conversation or payment off-platform.
How can I tell if a Vinted buyer is fake?
Red flags include a brand-new account, instant agreement to your price, requests to chat on WhatsApp or email, and any link claiming to be from Vinted on a non-vinted.com domain.
What is a Vinted phishing link?
A link sent in a chat or email designed to look like Vinted's login or payment page. It captures your username, password and sometimes card details, allowing scammers to take over your account.
Should I ship before payment is confirmed?
No. Always wait until the order shows in your Vinted sales tab. Email confirmations or buyer screenshots can be faked.
